GovSat-1 Mission

On Monday, January 31st at 4:25 p.m. ET, SpaceX successfully launched the GovSat-1 satellite from Space Launch Complex 40 (LC-40) at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida. Following stage separation, SpaceX leveraged the stage return to test very high retrothrust water landings.  SpaceX did not attempt to recover the Falcon 9 first stage, but it did survive its soft water landing.

Falcon 9 delivered the GovSat-1 satellite to its targeted orbit and the satellite was deployed approximately 32 minutes after liftoff. You can watch a replay of the launch below and find more information about the mission in our press kit.
